Our Mission Statement
Selah Counseling Services, a 501(c)3 non-profit counseling center in the Foothills, is designed to guide and nurture teens, children and their parents as they seek to embrace and sustain connection within themselves, with God and with others.
One of our highest priorities at Selah is offering individuals a safe, professional, and supportive environment to address life’s challenges. What you can expect from individual therapy sessions at Selah is an open approach to working through issues directly associated with how you function as an individual in relationships. While at Selah, you will look at your strengths and growth areas, and will collaborate with your therapist on what you want to achieve. Our goal is very simple-we want to provide an experience that will be the foundation of positive change in your life. Our services for individuals include testing and assessment, treatment for traumatic experiences such as sexual and physical abuse, depression, anxiety, marital difficulties, divorce recovery, being raised in addictive families, and other issues that impact our lives. We utilize a variety of approaches that support adults, adolescents, and children in the individual process.
Group therapy is an opportunity to take what you have experienced and learned in life or individual therapy and apply it to relationships with others who are equally committed to growth and change. Group therapy can be the most challenging yet often the most rewarding endeavor in facilitating the therapeutic process. Groups are led by experienced professionals who are dedicated to helping develop individual growth in relationship to others.
Families are the crucible of life. All of us come from a family and there are many adjectives to describe them. A few are: intact, dysfunctional, functional, fun, faithful, formal, rigid, safe, abusive, disconnected, enmeshed, flexible, and the like. Family is the place we learn rules, roles, habits, value, competency, a sense of belonging, and how to cope with life as we know it. Sometimes the rules we learn, the roles we adopt, or the habits we develop impair our relationships. Family therapy is a safe respectful way to look at a family’s dynamics and work towards making a home in which members want to live and be a part of.
Selah is committed to partnering with churches to support their ministry to individuals, couples, families, and specific groups. Selah believes that being part of a community requires a commitment to assist fellow Christians in the process of growing to become all that God has created them to be. Sometimes trials and life can be extremely difficult and just as any family needs support, we believe churches benefit from the support of experienced professionals committed to a faith in Christ.
Selah wants to support the parenting process because it is the foundation to the quality of life for our children. We offer The Parent Project, which has been designed to assist parents with the challenges and often trying relationships we have with our children. It is a balance between excellent research, applied theory, and practical methods in staying in relationship with our children-even when we are at our limit. The Parent Project is recommended for any parent that wants to improve their ability to have a healthy relationship with their children. For more information about The Parent Project check out their website. If interested in the Parent Project class, please contact our offices to be contacted regarding our next class.
